Parental Involvement laws interfere in young women’s access to abortion care by requiring them to notify their parent or obtain parental consent prior to obtaining an abortion or other necessary health service. Young women who cannot involve their parents in their abortion decision are required to go through a humiliating, complicated, and time consuming process that involves getting permission from a judge.

The Montana House on Tuesday voted 59-41 in favor of legislation (HB 391) that would require written parental consent before a minor can obtain an abortion, the AP/Missoulian reports.

Okla. Panel Approves Changes to Parental Consent Law

The Oklahoma House Public Safety Committee on Tuesday voted 7-3 to approve two bills that would make it more difficult for a minor to obtain an abortion without parental consent, the AP/Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
